What happened to the old shoebox ?

Asked by serenade_to_a_cuckoo 3 months ago

Hi,

if there is a place, where the old shoes-programs can still be found, PSE point me there. I do not think that I am missing much. But after the crash of my old computer, I have no record of the ideas, that I implemented in some of my own contributions to the shoebox.

Useful or not, I would like to get a copy of my old programs.

Howdy - How long ago did you upload them, and did you have another profile name at the time?

Usually Programs uploaded via HH will be on your Profile page (I checked yours by clicking your username, but 0 Programs were there).

They might also be on the Programs page?

    Cheers

  • Sorry, I had to sign in again, as my e-mail address is suddenly no longer requested. Let's see what happens this time.

On the old shoebox, - and I am no longer sure, that we talk about the same thing-, I used the pseudo "Augustus Caesar" and there has not even been a sign-up procedure. You chose your pseudo ad hoc with whatever you wanted to publish, programs or comments.

It looks to me as if the old site has just disappeard and been replaced by yours, which may have existed before.

There are exactly 0 (none, nulla di nulla, zero) programs of the old site found in your current list. Notably, Satoshi's Sudoku and my Generator are nowhere to be seen.

And as well none of my Win32OLE programs.

Whatever it is, that you did (and it was probably all right to proceed like that), you should display a note somewhere or ask someone who knows what has happened.

  • NOT FUNNY.

Trying to correct the error in the first line "requested" against "accepted" I get the message, that my e-mail address is not acceptable.

So I wish you well as it is not sure, how we will keep contact in the future.

  • I am no longer redirected to your site, when I try a link to the "old" shoebox.

Okay, let's consider this issue as closed. The "phenomenon" is obviously not related to hackety.com but to some strange thing happening on the web.

    The shoebox is not more...

  • Fix your comment-section, however...

serenade - yes, over the past couple of years there has been a re-write of the site, and some other changes which might have lost the shoebox.

The 'Edit' on the comments is a problem and I'll lodge a ticket for it to be fixed.

    Thanks again for the feedback.
